Against better judgment (as veterans of several hurricanes in Houston) we have decided to wait out Irene in New York. Even though we have loaded the place with water, wine and flashlights imported from the CVS on Westheimer, I have to admit, it’s a little weird here. The streets are sort of reminiscent of a Twilight zone episode, with only a few exasperated, befuddled tourists wandering around. What a shame…so much money and no place to spend it! Even the 24 hour Duane Reade is closed! We strolled around the Upper Eastside this morning and this is what we saw…can you believe Burberry didn’t use their signature colors? What a missed opportunity! Anyway, right now this city looks more like Houston than New York!

More space, more chic.

We’ve officially been in the new space one week, so we thought it was about time to give you the grand tour. As with any change, we’re still adjusting to the new location, but are loving every minute of it.

We now have three (!!) dressing rooms, more organized, specialized inventory sections and fabulous architectural details that will blow you away. You may be familiar with the space, at 2501 River Oaks Blvd., as it’s been home to many Houston greats including Isabel Gerhart, Harriet Hart and most recently, Indulge Linens and Décor. You shouldn’t be worried though — you’ll still get the same laid back feel as the the old spot, even in our fancy new digs!

We could not be more excited to begin this adventure and hope that you’ll follow along here on the blog, on our facebook page and our twitter feed.

Happy Anniversary, Quatorze!

One of our all-time favorite restaurants, Quatorze, has just passed its 20 year milestone. When Stephen and I lived in New York, it was next door to our apartment building. It was the first restaurant bébé Elizabeth visited. Cristiana and I have made Quatorze à bientôt’s New York dining room for the past 14 years. The owners and staff are still close to our hearts. (And our stomachs.) They always remember us when we return for our favorite dishes, the chicory salad, roast chicken, steak frites (with those TDF frites) and their heavenly tarte tartin. Reservations recommended.
